Some little additions to the kitchen

I hope you had a great weekend!
We did! I bought three ceiling fans on Saturday from Beacon Lighting to put in the bedrooms we will hopefully get them installed soon, we are also having a new aircon installed tomorrow!!! YAY getting ready for summer!

While I was out shopping for the fans I stopped in at Spotlight to get a few Christmasy things. Like Bon Bons, gift tags, I think I want to make some white bunting for the deck and I also spotted this cute white 'Kitchen' sign and couldn't resist!

Look at that groovy retro typeface! I love it and doesn't it go well with my old style radio! If you're new to my blog and want to see my little kitchen makeover post click here.

Another new addition in the kitchen are these wooden alphabet and number magnets I made for Will to play with.

We were given two wooden puzzles handed down from friends but when all the pieces were ending up everywhere (and Will's not really old enough for a 26 piece puzzle) I decided to turn them into magnets for the fridge.

I bought a long roll of magnetic tape with a sticky side to it and chopped pieces off and stuck them on the back of the puzzle pieces.

They look great and have already provided a good hour or two of play time for Will!

I love it when you can re-purpose something don't you???

On Sunday we had a birthday BBQ for Glen's birthday with family and friends.

I was cheeky and turned the numbers around on his cake :)
It was a lovely afternoon and all the kids played really well. Oh and see the massive sandpit you can see in the background? Well we are part way through a landscaping project... I will do a post on it once we've finished.

How was your weekend? What did you get up to?
Have a great day,

New Print - LOVE

I've got a new print which I've just gotten around to adding to my shops. It's called LOVE!!!!

"Bring some colour and LOVE into your home with this simple design 8 x 10 print.
Featuring words from the very popular wedding reading
'Love is patient, love is kind...' from 1 Corinthians 13."

It comes in three colours but as always, I'm happy to make in your own favourite colour!

It's simple, but it's positive and I think we all need a reminder of what the qualities of LOVE really are!

You can find it in my shops here:
Etsy
Madeit
MySweetPrints.com.au

I'd love to know which of the three colours you like the best???

Have a LOVE-ly day everyone :)

P.S. thank you all for your very sweet comments about my 'bloggers block' yesterday. I'm feeling a bit better today and my wonderful Mum has just taken Will for a sleepover so I can get some rest and relaxation - aren't Mum's the best in the world??? LOVEYOUMUM!!!

Bloggers Block

I've got a bit of bloggers block today. Do you ever get that? It doesn't happen to me very often but when it does I know there must be something wrong...

Its funny because before I started my blog and was toying with the idea of starting one I used to think... Gosh what would I write about? But somehow there is always something on my mind, some inspiration to share or just the antics of my funny bubba to have a giggle over.
Did you feel the same way before you started blogging? Do you ever get bloggers block?

I think it's because I'm not feeling 100% at the moment and so everything is a bit scrambled.

I am hoping I'll be back to full health tomorrow and back with blog posts galore.

Have a great day,

Unapologetic about Blue

I love blue, especially in interiors.... I can't get enough of it. And I think I've found my favourite room yet! Take a look!!!!

Isn't it stunning! I love everything about it!
The blues, the wood tones, the mix of patterns, the beautiful mirror, the french windows...

I don't know how that blue chaise lounge would hold up with my little tornado around but how gorgeous and what about that ceramic stool and lamp..... drrrooooooool!

I'm in heaven

A close up of the coffee table. I love the pattern on the rug too.

What do you think, is it up your alley too?

And I loved hearing about your TV housing solutions yesterday! For those that asked - No, I don't think I would ever paint the sideboard. It is a beautiful solid teak and matches our dining room table and I quite like it's retro look!

Have a great day,

Where is your TV?... a corner of my home.

I know it's a funny question, but where is your TV?
Do you even have a TV? Is it mounted on the wall? Is it in or on an entertainment unit? Do you have some sneaky way of camouflaging it?

Here is where we have our TV...

On top of our 1960's sideboard, which was handed down from my Grandma and stores all of our platters, glassware, silver, table linen etc. We really didn't have room for another piece of furniture so we've had to adapt to make the sideboard serve two purposes.

I love the old next to the new and the fact that I can make little vignette's of my current favourite objects to display.

Although it's not ideal as you have to try and hide all the cables that would usually be hidden in an entertainment unit.

Which is why I have little displays like this framed picture to hide the nasty cords.
BTW that is hand painted silk from India which Glen's cousin brought back for us as a Wedding present. The Elephant, Camel and Horse represent good luck, love and power.

And when we got the TV I tried to think of a way to sort of distract the eye from the big black square so I painted that long rectangular canvas to hang above it and it ties in the light blue colours of our lounge, it's no Mona Lisa but it does the trick.

Oh and before you assume that it was my husband who chose a big flat screen TV, think again.... it was me :) I love watching telly and there is nothing better than the crisp clear vision you get from a Full HD TV - hey I am a visual person :)

So where do you house your TV? Have you come up with some creative camouflage solutions?

I'd love to know!

Have a great day everyone,

Stunning Home and the Decorating Forum

I am lucky enough to have been nominated by the lovely Kristie from Elements to be the 'Blog of the Week' on the Decorating Forum this week!

The Decorating Forum was founded by the talented Julie-Ann Hind. And what a fantastic tool for all of those renovating, decorating or building as you can post questions on the site and get feedback and tips on your Decorating dilemmas.

Julie-Ann has been kind enough to share a bit about herself and give us a tour into her STUNNING home - this lady has style!

A bit about Julie-Ann:
I am an Interior Designer in Perth. I also run the Decorating Forum online .The Decorating Forum is a forum for chatting about home decorating, renovating, building or interior design. It’s a place to get ideas, tips and to talk about decorating your home.

Outside of the House:
Our home is very traditional in style and most people think it was built in the early 1900’s. We actually built our home 6 years ago.

Kitchen:
If we ever moved I would have to replicate this kitchen in the new house. I love the traditional style of it and having white satin 2-pak kitchen cabinets. And a place to display my tea set which was a Valentine’s gift from my lovely hubby.

Family Room:
This room is full of natural light and is where I work most of the day. It is such a wonderful space to be in. Plus it looks out over the street so I can watch all the comings and goings of the neighbourhood.

Meals Area:
This is my favourite room that I insisted we have. There are full height windows on 2 sides and 4metre stacking doors at the end. You feel like you are sitting outside when you still have the luxury of sitting inside.

My Office:
This was my office until I recently gave it up for my son. For some reason he didn’t like the décor especially the Toile. Obviously the child has no taste :).

So what do you think? Drool worthy or what! Thanks Julie-Ann for sharing your beautiful home with us. And please pop over to the Decorating Forum and become a member... I am!

Have a great afternoon and evening everyone,

Bloggers High Tea at the QVB Tea Rooms

Good Morning!

I had such a lovely weekend, especially yesterday as I attended the Bloggers High Tea at the QVB Tea Rooms which was organised by the lovely Anna of Lona de Anna.

It was such a fun afternoon. We had a round table in the corner of the room and drank lots of tea and ate LOTS of delish food.

Guests were...
Anna -
Lona de Anna
Alisa - Mon Alisa Design
and myself

We had lots of laughs and didn't stop chatting the whole time. Isn't blogging great like that, you meet people with the same interests so when you get together it's just like old friends.

Anna was just amazing and even had Kris Kringle gifts for each of us including a card and glass tree ornament as well - how sweet is that?!?!?!?!

The whole thing was just what I'd needed, a bit of girly decadence with chatting, laughs and prettiness.

Eg. this stunning light in the centre of the room, how beautiful is that!

Anyway, thanks again Anna for organising such a lovely afternoon!

And I'll be back with another post later this afternoon to show you a stunning home :)

Have a great Monday,

The beauty of this height chart as opposed to others is that you can write the date or age of your child on the side of the canvas to record their height at every stage!

Here is the girl colour option.

And the boy colour option

I am so excited and have listed them on my www.MySweetPrints.com.au - check it out under Shop and Canvas Art!

I'd love your feedback on my new range.

Decorators Delight!

So my brother and sister-in-law (D&S) got the keys to their new home yesterday! Very exciting!

It is a stunning house with soooooo much character. Here is one of the real estate shots.

But for as much character as the house has, it has as much wallpaper and old carpets and dust...

Here is the nicest looking room which I took a quick snap of today whilst trying to stop Will from falling down the stairs :)

Isn't the fireplace, mantle and windows beautiful. The wallpaper in this room is not too bad.

I'm going over again tomorrow to help with the big move and I'll take some photos of all the wallpaper, like I mean wallpaper on the ceiling and OLD wallpaper! Some of the wallpaper designs are not too bad but some.... well you'll have to wait to see :)

They have a big job ahead of them as it really is a decorators delight but the bones of the home are so wonderful and there are hidden gardens and beautiful views over the bush so once they have put their mark on the house it will simply be a stunning, magical home!

So stay tuned,

A corner of my home: adding some pink

Here is a little look at my lounge room. I've added some pink to the room recently, what do you think?

My little model in his PJ's with 'Woofie' on his back. (Sorry the photos aren't great, just taken on my iphone and the light is a bit weird this morning).

Jenny from The Five Year Project blogged about a new cushion she got at Target in their cushion sale so I went to take a look and got two of the pink/purple/green flowery cushions at $14 each! They go quite nicely along side my blue and white Kas cushions I think - thanks for the heads up Jenny!

See the little green chair in the first pic? We were given two of them from our neighbours across the road. I plan to paint them white sometime. I had the coffee table custom made slightly higher than normal so that Will could use it as his dining/working/drawing table too. (Please ignore the sticky little finger marks on the coffee table).

I am using my Spotlight white metal tray to keep mags tidy on the coffee table and it also makes it easier to move them when Will eats at the table. And in the vase you will see the pink camellias from our Camellia tree out the front.

I also got these beautiful new placemats for the dining table from Louise at Illume Designs for my birthday! Aren't they beautiful? I was in need of new placemats so it's perfect and ties in with my new hint of pink!

Hubby hasn't made any 'too girly' comments so that's good, what do you think (honestly) it's not too girly is it?

Have a great Monday,
